i love mail

This is coming long after the fact,

but thank you everyone who sent me mail!!

I've been lucky to receive. . .

a letter from Sister Murdock/my old roommate/my best friend

TWO packages from my mother! Both of which contained candy and snacks. And a lovely yellow new shirt. she is the best! I would've taken pictures of all the contents, but by the time I remembered, most of it was eaten and this is all I had left.

THANK YOU MEL - she sent me a bag of mini wheat crumbs. the key to my heart and my most favorite treat. She is a wonderful sister and i love her and i loved eating the crumbs. I had one day home sick, and it was the perfect breakfast to help me feel better :)

And thanks to Daren for the loveliest package full of the perfect goodies to keep me going. Definitely made my day!

a day in the life

A DAY IN THE LIFE

a photo journal of my "every days" teaching at Henderson Primary

We wake up every morning and walk to school.

(Thank you mom for the new yellow shirt!!)

Some days are more exciting than others depending on what we find along the way.

Sometimes we bike. . .

And when we feel lazy (which is frequently) we take the bus.

Welcome to Henderson Primary! I teach in room 9 with Mrs. Templeman.

Then the teaching begins! Meet my class :) 30 students from over 10 different countries.

They have swimming every morning. . .

Then I teach reading, writing, and maths. We wrote poems last week. Look at these little gems :)

Morning tea happens and the kids go out to play. This is when we get to spend time with cute as kids like Jonathan. He is in Mallory's class and loves to tell about new facts he's learned.

"The word 'bon fire' actually means bones. . ." we love to quote him.

Wednesdays are my favorite because we have bible study with Mr. Ireland ;)

Mr. Ireland is not only a great teacher, but very good looking as well. . .

We exercise our bodies. . . my favorite is jump jam. I am a jump jam enthusiast

Some library or music time with Mr. French!

The day ends with staff meetings, syndicate meetings, and cleaning up. . . .

or sometimes with an activity such as a "Meet the Teacher" picnic!

We sit in the Hollywood bakery and people watch while we wait for the bus home

I laughed when I saw this and had to take a picture . . . the couple on the right is the future of the couple on the left. Just aged fifty or so years.

Then we can go home! and I crash. Which is why my side of the room looks like this.

Compared to Stacey's side (who is amazingly organized) which looks like this. Don't judge me.

patty's parades & train tracks

Happy St. Patty's Day! It was a spontaneous and sunny weekend.

We. . .

1. Went to the train tracks to flatten coins.

Here's what you do. Place a coin on the railroad track, let the train run over it, and then pick up your newly flattened coin :) Stacey, Victoria, and I went late at night to the train tracks to party and flatten us some coins. Then we ran into some trouble with surveillance.

It started with our attempts to plank across the tracks.

Over the PA: "Please get off the tracks.If you do not remove yourself,

the police will be called and you will be arrested."

no joke.

At first we didn't take them seriously.

"This is your last warning. Get off the tracks or you will be personally removed.

You are under surveillance!"

We booked it outta there! but not without our coins :)

2. Then spontaneously stopped at the "ten pin bowl" club for a round of bowling.

Barely pulled it together at the end with a double strike.

phew. . . I was starting to get embarrassed!

3. Took a trip to Takapuna beach the next day

we re-enacted some of our half marathon battle scenes

as this was the very beach!

and apparently it's a very dangerous beach. falling rocks and toxic water.

4. Visited downtown Auckland for St. Patrick's Day and went "op shopping"! There is a road called "K Road" that is full of vintage thrift stores. I was veerryy happy about that.
